The Eclectic Prince eBook Caspar Vega

The story opens with a young man facing new beginnings. The loss of his sister (and parents, though it’s not clear when they died) lands him under the guardianship of his Uncle Daniel. The young man is mature for his age, and a bit cynical, so his enthusiasm for relocating to Spain doesn’t match the typical 15 year old’s response. He’s not likeable, but you get the impression that maybe there’s more to him.

The youth goes through (what seems to be the next few months, or a year) seizing the day without considering the consequences of his actions. He befriends a young expat named Royce who offers an oasis where he can play some adult games. Soon, the young ward connects with a teenaged girl who makes his transition to European life a little more pleasant. As with many romances, this one has a tragic ending that seems to steer the youth, Valentine Fitzcannon, into becoming the sociopath that he’s, well, almost genetically predisposed to be.

This story had potential. Unfortunately, there were many issues that really kept it from being a great novel. I considered the story to be bouncy. There were so many times when the plot jumped from one point to another with no rhyme or reason. Or, something major happened, and it seemed like a paragraph or two was missing in between the before and after. It was abrupt. I never really understood why Val was so unbalanced. I noticed editing issues, but those were really insignificant compared to the story and character development.

There’s a supernatural twist, and a pinch of sci-fi that all just comes out of nowhere. Surprisingly, the ending isn’t bad. In fact, it was a great ending. I just had a problem with almost everything in between.

Overall, this book reads more like a work in progress. It’s a puzzle that is missing some pieces. With some help, the author could expand this into something notable.

The Eclectic Prince eBook Caspar Vega Reviews

Definitely a very different book compared to most in the same genre, but I think that's a part of what made me enjoy this book so much. The characters and their interactions with each other and their environment are very unique and original and this combined with the well-written writing style really made it an enjoyable read for me. I was hooked within the first few pages and it was literally hard to put my kindle down until I had finished the book.

Overall, in my opinion, it is a very good book and it has just the right amount of detail to create vivid scenes. There's plenty of humour and questionable scenes that kept it at an interesting and entertaining pace for me
I got this because I was looking for something out-in-left-field. This is not vulgar or crass, in fact quite the opposite. You follow the mind and thoughts and actions of various personalities. When money is not an issue, what issues are there?

Plenty.

The stories are so strange. The scene with the gameshow where the contestants had to make these horrible decisions or get fried...AHHH that was so awesome.

This author WILL entertain you. Even the mundane thoughts are entertaining. There are very unique sub stories that will make you say "whaaaaaaa...." it was awesome. Sex with relatives, witches, drugs, teens, adults, rock stars and drop outs...leave your world, enter theirs.
The Eclectic Prince was really a lot of fun to read. It has a lot of comedic elements and was very coming-of-age. The characters were really colorful and I enjoyed watching them develop during those formative years. It will have you reflect on your own experiences often. If you're like me, you'll envision your own former self in these roles and where your place would be in the group. Some of it was very racy though. It definitely takes someone who is ready for this brand or literature or who would consider themselves a mature reader. The author, Casper Vega, is quite talented and had a great vision while writing this book. Worth the read!
This book is the work of an author who has big ideas whose skills have not caught-up with his imagination..yet. A talented young author. I could not find any other books from Mr. Vega, so I assume this is is his first book. It is a great first-novel and the author shows tremendous promise. However, why should you read this book...because it is good. The author still weaves a world with rich characters and a secret super-power to destroy the world. I don't want to say cyber-punk, but it shares the same DNA. The author develops characters and his style gives the book this incredible energy like your spinning. Stuff that me, as a writer, will steal from him.
The Eclectic Prince was a fun read for me. The author definitely has a creative side to him which comes out in his writing. The story was a fun one that mixed together a blend of supernatural with a pinch of sci-fi.

The premise was good and the plot was strong, but the execution missed just a tad bit. I feel like the author could have spent a little bit more time on the editing and word usage. The story falls flat at times, but then becomes filled with intense, fast-paced, action for brief moments. The plot and sub-plots are fun and imaginative, but sometimes the writing gets choppy so the reader gets lost. The character development is great which brings the book energy and something that the reader can relate to, but again this sometimes gets lost in the plot. These are all elements that can be fixed with a really good editor.

This is an outstanding first piece of work from Caspar Vega. He definitely shows that he has the raw talent to make a name in this genre someday. He does not lack in imagination or desire, just in an editing team to back him up. With just a little bit more work The Eclectic Prince could easily be a 5-star read.

I am sure that we have not seen the last of Mr. Vega. Inspiring work!
