Maybe my standards are just too high but the 2 "North and South" stories by this author are embarrassing. The author does have a disclaimer that these are separate stories not actual sequels but if you are familiar with John and Margaret, you still cringe as you read these. The Margaret character is weakened, the John character is paternalistic and omnipotent and Mrs. Thornton is killed off quickly (the only good thing!). There are at least 4 other sequels that I would recommend. Only read these if you are absolutely desperate!!Product details

Another North and South inspired love story. Loyal Wynyard has so many good ideas for tales you'll never tire of finding out the next idea.

I am a fan of the characters John Thornton & Margaret Hale (North & South, BBC Adaption) and this book did not disappoint. It was an enjoyable read and a very romantic story. I enjoy the variations by Loyal Wynyard and hope there are more to come.
First let me say I'm giving this book two stars because the story is actually pretty nice. My problem is, if you are going to write about characters that people already know at least keep a little bit of their essence to make the story more enjoyable for the fans. I know this is fan fiction and I have read a lot of fan fiction but I would have enjoyed the book a lot more if the writer had come up with her own characters instead of using JT and MH.
This was a sweet story and a good read. The constant complements to Margaret by every man of her acquaintance did get a little annoying after a while and the level of fortuitous events occasionally stretched my willing-suspension-of-disbelief, but over all it was a good read that I would recommend to another person looking for a good variation of North & South.
The author weaves a bit of Jane aware into our beloved North and South story. In this version, Margaret's intelligence as a governess brings her to the attention at several mill masters. It is refreshing to read a version where John and Margaret work together during a time of crisis rather than suffer continual misunderstandings - I very much enjoyed the read!
