Girl Punches Out An Emily Kane Adventure Book 2 edition by Jacques Antoine Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
This is book 2 in a six book series (so far). Most are great reads with two exceptions. one, I think book thee, is somewhat chopped up with chapter long flashbacks that are sometimes dealt more briefly (and appropriately) in later chapters. However the story is engaging in this book as well. The other is book four that is short and explores the theological foundation of the series. It is interesting, has action, but takes more that one read to digest it. In all of the books we meet an loner teen who is a master of many martial arts forms. She is something else as well and needs to grow up quickly due to events beyond her control. I like the fact that she is an ugly duckling who blossoms into a swan (or maybe a dragon would be more appropriate considering her Japanese ancestry). Emily is a strong force of nature and a very complex character. Her struggles are what make the stories great. She is an unacknowledged princess, due to her mixed race, has conflicted loyalty due to her connection to the Japanese royal house, allegiance to the U. S. military, and family connection to the C.I.A., etc. She is also very asian in thought process, but very American in posture and action. Which makes her a very intriguing character. I highly recommend this series.Product details

Girl Punches Out An Emily Kane Adventure Book 2 edition by Jacques Antoine Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Entertaining, but with a bit of unbelievable outcomes. Emily Kane’s (this is Book 2) continued “search” makes the next adventure a must read.
I love Emily Kane's Adventures. The hero is complex and an amazing creation. The martial arts are mind blowing. The philosophy is rich and absorbing. Roller coast ride through the ups and downs and twists and turns is crazy fun. You watch Emily grow from high school kid to a wise Sensei. Series moves from PG to PG-13. You need to read Book 1 first. Did I mention I loved it? Curl up, dive in.
Good read , liked story line , waiting for book 6 to be released . Can't wait to read it
This second book in the Emily Kane series is just as good as the first book. The character development is so good — one really likes the characters. The author has created a world in which there is more honor than I have experienced my lifetime. What a great series!.
I read a lot of books, but I don’t like to give negative reviews because I figure that I am not qualified to criticize another person’s artistic work. I will say that I have read each of the five (so far) books in this series and I have enjoyed them immensely. In my opinion each book is as good as the others. I found them easily readable without a tendency for my mind to drift. For me that is high praise. I am giving this very positive review because I would like to help others looking for something good to read.
Emily Kane is one of the best characters I've encountered in a long time. In this second book in the series, things get much more serious and, I'm afraid, less plausible. But it's still good fun, and still worth it just to see the world through Emily's lense.
Emily is an expert martial artist with a haunted past, and enemies lurking in every shadow. And she's also a teenage girl, who has to worry about fitting in at school and about who she might be going to prom with. This dichotomy is what makes her such an interesting person to watch.
The first Emily Kane book (Girl Fights Back), was a wonderfully written introduction to Emily and her complicated life. In this second installment, everything is a little (sometimes a lot) bigger. More fights, more spies, more danger and more adventure. The trade-off is a little less of the subtlety that made the first book such a fascinating experience. But still, it's good stuff, and I'm off to read book three.
Girl Punches Out is the second of Jaques Antoine "Emily Kane Adventures." It is a disappointing sequel to one of the finest opening book series I've read. But while "Girl Fights Back" was deeply atmospheric and mysterious, "Girl Punches Out" loses much of that atmospheric sense and the mystery surrounding Emily/Michico is considerably lessened. the latter was to be expected. the former while not surprising is disappointing as well.
This book picks up and runs with all of the weaker features of the opening book. In my review of the book "Girl Fights Back" I said that the one thing that I didn't especially care for in the book was how "Emily" who now sees herself as "Michiko Tenno" bordered on being a Super Hero, rather than a normal human being. I said then that I was sure that Jaques Antoine "must not have intended that."
I now believe I was dead wrong with that assessment. This book sets up a possible "Spider Man" scenario for Michiko which does not appeal to me at all. Added to that frustration is the fact that this book now has all of the ear marks of devolving into a "Fantasy" rather than a Science Fiction series. To explain this would be to give too much of the plot away for the next readers. Let me say that I could only recommend this book to those who are looking for a modern Fantasy setting with inanimate objects having souls and with battles being fought both physically and on a different plane of existence. I do not expect to read the third book in this series. But I will leave room to change my mind.
